Nina's Story

Nina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional who prioritizes warmth, compassion, and energy in her work as a therapist.

She has helped individuals of all ages overcome barriers they have faced to find joy and hope in their lives and relationships. Nina is passionate about working with complex and generational trauma, relationship dynamics, cultural identity, helping people impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia, and life transitions.

Nina brings more than 20 years of dynamic behavioral health experience to her clients. She is licensed to practice in Arizona.

Background and clinical experience

Nina holds a B.S. in Applied Sociology and Corrections from Minnesota State University Mankato. She then earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota, where she specialized in adult mental health and medical social work.

In addition, Nina is also a graduate of the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, where she pursued clinical work in pediatric oncology.

She has dedicated years to helping others in roles such as:

  • Private practice, providing individual, group, and couples therapy
  • Lead Therapist in inpatient and emergency psychiatric settings
  • Treating veterans through the Veterans Health Administration
  • Providing neuropsychological evaluations and testing in the medical social work setting

Nina is also an approved Clinical Supervisor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Outside the office

When out of the office, Nina enjoys spending quality time with her daughter and Rottweiler. Traveling with family and friends, downhill skiing, and decompressing in the gym also bring her joy.
