Generalized Anxiety Disorder

When anxiety takes the wheel, life can feel out of control. At Epiphany Center, we use proven therapies and compassion to help calm worry, restore balance, and build lasting confidence in daily life.

What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is characterized by feelings of intense and excessive worry about everyday life experiences, such as getting in trouble at work or being fired, a friend being upset or angry, or making a mistake.

People who suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder often feel overwhelmed, indecisive, and fear the consequences of routine decisions and actions. As a result, they often spend much time and effort ruminating and working to avoid situations that they associate with bringing on feelings of anxiety.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder Treatment

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is highly treatable, with strong success rates when effective, evidence-based methods are delivered with care and support.

Treatment combines cognitive and behavioral strategies to help individuals recognize and break the cycle of worry and rumination. Psychoeducation addresses how avoidance, safety behaviors, and persistent rumination can unintentionally heighten anxiety.

Equally important is providing the guidance and encouragement needed to move forward without fear and worry as constant and unwanted companions.
