Therapy at Epiphany Center
There are many approaches to psychotherapy. As licensed therapists, we specialize in several evidence-based therapeutic modalities that help clients find freedom and connection.
Types of Therapy
At Epiphany Center, we believe effective therapy starts with the right fit—both in the therapist and the approach. Our clinicians aren’t generalists; they’re specialists with focused training in evidence-based treatments for conditions such as OCD, PTSD, and anxiety disorders.
We use proven, research-backed methods that are known as the gold standard for these conditions, helping clients build lasting skills and rediscover a sense of peace and control.
These approaches include:
- Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
- Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT)
- Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Understanding Therapy Acronyms
ERP
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is commonly portrayed in pop culture in extreme, terrifying ways. In reality, this specialized treatment for OCD helps individuals get back to the regular parts of life that OCD has caused them to miss out on due to compulsions and avoidance.
SPACE
Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) is a treatment for parents and caregivers that has been clinically shown to be as effective as a child personally receiving therapy for their symptoms, including anxiety, phobias, panic disorder, and OCD.
ICBT
Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) helps individuals understand how their minds can generate intrusive doubts or “what if” thoughts that feel real but aren’t based in their senses or the here and now. Rather than focusing on compulsions, ICBT addresses the reasoning process that gives rise to obsessive thinking, helping clients rebuild trust in their own perceptions and reduce the power of intrusive thoughts.
TF-CBT
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is designed to help individuals, including children and adolescents, process and heal from traumatic experiences in a safe, structured way. It combines elements of cognitive therapy, exposure techniques, and family involvement to reduce distress related to trauma and build healthy coping skills for the future.
ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps individuals learn to relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings rather than trying to eliminate them. Often used to treat anxiety, OCD, and trauma-related concerns, ACT combines mindfulness and values-based action to help clients create a fuller, more meaningful life.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) teaches practical skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and staying grounded in the present moment. By combining mindfulness with strategies for emotional regulation and distress tolerance, DBT helps individuals find balance between acceptance and change in their daily lives.
WET
Written Exposure Therapy (WET) is a 5-7 session evidence-based trauma modality for the treatment of PTSD. Shown to be as effective as longer-term, more complex therapies, this approach helps individuals process traumatic events through writing about them in detail in a structured, safe setting.
EDMR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps individuals process and heal from traumatic memories that continue to cause distress. Using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR reduces the emotional intensity of past experiences and allows people to move forward with greater calm and clarity.
